For many years, train lovers have enjoyed riding the Glacier Express train through the Swiss Alps along one of the most scenic train journeys in the world! This iconic train takes guests between Zermatt and St. Moritz travelling through charming valleys, glamorous resorts, majestic mountain peaks, 91 tunnels, and across 291 bridges. Now, this 8-hour train ride offers a more luxurious experience in their new Excellence Class compartment.

All Aboard!

When you arrive at the train station in either Zermatt or St. Moritz, there is a check-in desk at the end of the platform on the red carpet just for the Excellence Class guests. They’ll immediately take your luggage and escort you to your seat where you are greeted with champagne and information to get started for the journey. You’ll have access to the exclusive Glacier Bar with a wide variety of drinks and a personal concierge that will cater to all your needs.

The Main A-track-tion

While taking in the breathtaking scenery, you can enjoy complimentary WiFi and the use of a personal iPad showing an interactive map of the route and points of interests with additional information to see or hear about during the journey. In addition, you will indulge in a delectable 6-course meal with a wine pairing for each course. The food courses include regional specialties that are prepared in the onboard kitchen right on the train. The delicious meal stretches on for hours, so you certainly won’t go hungry during this ride in the Excellence Class coach!

There are 20 plush leather seats in this new premium carriage; and everyone is guaranteed a window seat. Be sure to plan ahead, because there is only one train in each direction offering this new Excellence Class option daily mid-December through mid-October (They usually have a break for a couple of weeks in late March to mid April). Tickets are available to purchase 90 days prior to your date of travel. Alpenwild offers a Self-guided Glacier Express tour and will now include the option to upgrade ($530 USD surcharge per person) to ride in Excellence Class for those wanting to enjoy this deluxe experience.
