“The Dolomites were incredible and the food was fantastic.” - Alta Via 1 guest
From the Hilton Garden Inn in Mestre, conveniently located between the Marco Polo Airport and Venice, a 9 AM shuttle will transport the group to the base of a mountain chairlift near San Candido, marking the start of our tour.
We recommend arriving at least 1-2 days prior to the tour's start. While there are many beautiful accommodation options in Venice for pre-tour stays, the Hilton Garden Inn in Mestre is a convenient choice, offering an airport shuttle and being just a 10-minute bus ride from Venice.
The evening before your departure, we will transfer back to Venice for our final evening at an included accomodation near the Marco Polo Airport (Hilton Garden Inn Mestre).
Our Alps experts can assist with recommendations for your pre- and post-tour travel arrangements. Simply call or email us your plans and we are happy to help make the best of your vacation experience.
You'll stay in carefully selected accommodations, including cozy rifugios with shared rooms, a luxurious 5-star hotel featuring one of the world's only rotating saunas, and a historic 2,000-year-old castle—all capturing the authentic charm of the Dolomites.
The hallmark of an Alpenwild trip is our exceptional dining, including buffet breakfasts, picnic lunches, and many dinner options. NOTE: Alcoholic beverages, specialty drinks, and related gratuities are not included. Also one dinner in San Cassiano (day 6) and one dinner in Cortina (day 8) are not included. On these days, guides will provide any guests with restaurant reccomendations.
Please be aware that you may need to help carry some of the food during the trek in your backpack for picnic lunches.
We can accommodate a vegetarian diet, but since Alpine cuisine is centered around dairy products, accommodating a vegan diet is difficult. You’ll have plenty of whole grain and fresh fruit options at breakfast. For lunch, we will purchase items for the day and you’re welcome to come with us or give us specific requests. You’ll find the larger grocery stores have good vegetarian selections. For dinner our hotels will have vegetarian options, but not necessarily vegan. Other dietary restrictions like gluten-free may not be accommodated in remote mountain towns.
