We rate this trip as moderate but also adaptable to those who want easier or longer hikes on some days. Please note that the stats listed on the itinerary can vary, depending on the guide and desires of our hikers. You should be capable of walking 4 to 6 hours per day on well-groomed and graded trails at an elevation up to 9,000 feet above sea level. On one day a mountain railway takes you to an elevation of 11,400 feet to the Jungfraujoch.

A Self-Guided Tour with Alpenwild - FAQ Answers

Arrival

This tour starts in Grindelwald. We will provide a Swiss rail pass and instructions to get you there.

Departure

This tour will end in Zermatt on day 9 and you can use your Swiss Travel rail pass to return to the airport or any other Swiss town. Note: it is just over 3.5 hours by trains to Zürich airport and the first train departs Zermatt at 5:37 am, so plan departure flights accordingly. We can recommend hotels in Zürich if needed.
