Testimonials

I have nothing but kudos to you and Alpenwild for a superb trip. We did very well self-guiding and had a terrific time. - L.J. - New Hampshire

Options for the Independent Hiker

Plan now for a summer self-guided adventure on the Chamonix-Zermatt Haute Route. Our route follows the classic trek across the Swiss Alps starting in Chamonix at the base of Mont Blanc, Western Europe's Highest Peak, and concluding in Zermatt at the base of the Matterhorn, the world's most recognizable and stunningly beautiful peak.

Alpenwild's self-guided options for the Haute Route have enabled hundreds of hikers to experience this classic Alpine trek as independent travelers. Your transportation from the airport, accommodations, and most meals are pre-arranged and prepaid. You receive detailed route directions and benefit from Alpenwild's experience on the Haute Route. You'll even have local phone contact with an Alpenwild representative in case of an emergency.

The Most Scenic Trek in Europe

Each day is defined by ascending historic and formidable mountain passes. You'll walk in flowered meadows, hike near massive glaciers, and gaze at icefalls and ring glistening lakes. You'll hike the Haute Route through fir forests into picturesque villages where traditional inns await with delicious meals and cozy comforts.

Worry-free Hiking Tour

The Haute Route is a classic Alpine trek, widely regarded as the most scenic in Europe. It's an Alps hiking tour like no other. Our self-guided tours are really custom tours without the group. It's a prepaid vacation tailored to your interests, abilities, and budget.

Plan Ahead, Make Your Reservations Early

Space on the Haute Route is limited. Our guided tours fill early. Space at many of the select hotels in small villages along the way is very limited. For best availability, we highly recommend planning ahead and securing your reservations prior to January 31.
